And it's not that, they don't go down to the brain, they just take a part of the skull off to release that pressure.
It can be both.
It can be a circle or it can be a square.
And what they found in the best evidence of that is, or I should say, the highest rate of that is in South America and Peru and Chile.
And what they found was that over time, the surgeons got better at it and.
they noticed that if it's done right across the top of the skull, so at the top of the skull, your bones are attached with a suture.
And that suture is like, it looked like squiggly lines connecting.
It's almost like a zipper connection.
And that's also where your skull is the thickest.
And they found that when people were operated on there, they were more likely to die.
Another area that's very thick is the back of the skull.
Again, a very bad place to have this trepanation.
But if they were operated on closer to the front or to the front side, they more likely survived it and you'd see healing.
And some individuals had this done to them multiple times.
And then, you know, eventually sometimes people, you could see, oh, that was the last one because I showed no healing.
Yeah.
We have evidence of it pretty much all over the world.
I think maybe the only place we don't have evidence of it is sub-Saharan Africa.
And the oldest one probably dates back to maybe 60,000 to 80,000 years ago.
