The voters I spoke to today as they were leaving the polls said that they voted for El-Sayed because of his stance against big money in politics.
The moderate Democrats in Michigan, who I spoke to after they cast their ballots for Stevens, are worried that El-Sayed won't appeal to the independent voters he needs to win the general election.

once they give somebody a ride they kind of have to wait around for the next person to call them and tell them to come and pick them up so a lot of the cars end up using public parking spaces while they're waiting to get hailed for their next ride and sometimes that means they end up stopping somewhere that they shouldn't so they've gotten 64 fines for parking in a tow away zone 13 for not parking at a metered spot and nine for double parking
And they got a $519 ticket back in September 2024 for parking in a handicapped spot.
And that's a big one that residents notice.
What does Waymo have to say about this?
The company says that they pay tickets for its parked cars like any other driver, and they do not expect different treatment in regards to ticketing.
So just like any other person that gets a parking ticket, Waymo has to deal with the fines in court.
The main problems that they were seeing were several incidents of autonomous vehicles driving into active emergency scenes and sometimes even blocking the paths of ambulances and firefighters.
So the Waymos are programmed to recognize flashing lights and are supposed to roll down their window when they see the uniform of a police officer.
And then through the car, the officer can get in touch with a representative of the company who can remotely identify
send instructions to the car.
Independent analyses have confirmed that per mile autonomous vehicles, specifically Waymos, are involved in fewer crashes and cause fewer injuries than human drivers.
And police officers that I spoke to appreciate that.
