Sports are unfair.
There are people who were clearly, Simone Biles, that woman was born to fly.
To flip.
To flip and to fly and to twist.
And she's the best in the world and we love it.
And one of her competitive advantages, I'm going to argue after running these interviews, is that she's cis.
I'm going to argue that it is an athletic performance advantage to be cis because these trans athletes talk about how scary it is to be trans.
how much energy is put toward this like identity confusion, this body, this body confusion.
I'm a cis athlete.
Like I was assigned female at birth.
I identify as a female.
I love being a female.
As an athlete, there was never any energy wasted in that.
We actually heard both.
So I'm thinking about a trans soccer player who talked about being on the soccer field was the one time that he just got to drop in and, you know, just drop in.
Not be gendered, just be a body moving.
And it was a release valve for him.
And then locker room, it came back.
