But it does mean you cannot remove context from circumstance.

And this interviewer is actively trying to remove history from circumstance.

And what he's doing, I'm going to use a clinical term, he's gaslighting the Black community.

Because what he's saying essentially is, you Black people are crazy for thinking this.

but we think this because the historical context of that area has made us think this and it's weird that you're trying to like divorce the two the circumstance from the from the situation that's happened from the context and that is actively gaslighting you're making someone who's making a logical conclusion feel crazy for that logical conclusion that's wrong uh

It's helping the wheels of justice turn.

I'm not sure any of these things would have happened had so much noise not been around this case.

I tell people all the time,

Black people, not only do we deserve to live, we deserve to be anonymous.

What I mean by that is I shouldn't know that name.

There's no reason I should know the name Nolan Wells.

And I hate that I live in a world where I know it.

I wish that he was just an anonymous kid who graduated from high school and went off to college and did his thing.

And I never knew his name.

But now because of people like you, Don, we all need to know his name and we need to keep talking about it because that's what keeps the wheels of justice turning.

Because without public pressure, sometimes the wheels of justice screech to a halt and never in any more place than the South Mississippi when the subject who needs justice is a Black person and particularly a Black man.

So I'm so thrilled that you are lending your voice, your platform, your power

to this kind of story and I'm honored that you would

include me in that journey.
