So let's go back to the nineties.
Uh one of his earliest bad behaviour moments was nineteen ninety-one.
He gave an interview to the Spanish news newspaper El Pays, in which he made derogatory comments about gay people.
Um in nineteen ninety five, then Playboy asked him in an interview about those comments and he said, I'll apologize when hell freezes over, they can fuck off.
So this was a gap of four years.
Between he made when he made the comments in nineteen ninety one, in nineteen ninety five he doubled down.
Um later again he said that he had been heavily drinking when he made those comments and um
I mean, I don't know if you can really I mean, I know we just said about John Galliano, you know, if there's a but it's just that Mel Gibson carried on doing this for such a long time.
In nineteen ninety seven he tried to make some amends.
Um he allowed Glad to host ten lesbian and gay filmmakers for an on location seminar on the set of his movie Conspiracy Theory, and obviously that was well reported.
Um jumping forward then to two thousand and six, he was arrested in Malibu, California.

Um, apparently, when the arresting officer wouldn't allow him to drive home, he said to him.
He he went on an anti-Semitic terraid and asked the officer, Are you a Jew?
Um he then apologized again for this despicable behavior, um, said that blurted out in a moment of insanity and asked to meet with Jewish leaders to help him discern the appropriate path for healing, and then he entered a recovery program to battle his alcoholism.
Winona Ryder has repeatedly told a story in various press interviews about speaking to him at a party.
