The belief here is though it is

quote unquote promising news that we received earlier today that the courts have continued to block the construction of a facility in Gilroy.

The community has also expressed that the Department of Homeland Security may look for alternative sites

We know that there's already thought to look at the city of Dublin and the urgency is not alleviated because of the court's ruling.

If anything, it may mean that it's even more imperative to act.

So we believe that the temporary pause will provide the city with an opportunity to review

basically our existing land use regulations, assess potential impacts on our community, and determine whether additional development standards or safeguards are needed to address these uses.

So in the conversation that we had with Representative Liccardo,

We also tried to voice that our biggest concern is the federal land that is just adjacent to us with which we have no purview over, which is Moffett Field, and how

you know, that this urgency ordinance is appreciated, but what can we do with the representative related to that federal land and to understand what we can do to protect our residents and our community.

So hopefully embedded into this motion will be to not only look at the 45-day temporary moratorium and the ordinance,

but would also be to continue the conversations with Representative Liccardo's office because he's very keenly aware of Moffitt being adjacent to us.

And then wanted to also share the city.

I guess there are

are some good things that can come out of the City of San Jose, Council Member Ramirez, and they adopted the ordinance, or they gave direction last Friday to look at adopting the ordinance, and we'll be reviewing that at their next council meeting on the 15th, so that's in a week.

So there is something that's out there.

So as part of the Council direction, we could also include looking at modeling ourselves after that ordinance, which would be modeled after Representative Liccardo's model in his toolkit.
