And they've actually put out a warning for people to stop claiming private expenses and they had a few examples of what people had tried to claim.
For instance, $17,000 worth of baby expenses like winter clothes and medical expenses.
Don't know how that was work-related and clearly the ATO didn't know either.
But even things like meal deliveries when working from home, people had tried to claim those but they were not accepted by the ATO.
And you're right about doing it yourself versus an accountant.
It is pretty easy.
I've been doing it myself the last couple of years.
But if you do have complicated tax affairs, that's where bringing in an accountant can really help you.

Well, I mean, to be fair, I feel like what I meant in this story is like the White House came out with a new food pyramid, right?
Like you think of the food pyramid of like the 90s when it was like have all of the carbs that you would ever want, like at least in the U.S.
And so they came out with a new food pyramid.
RFK is obviously like the face of health and human services in the White House.
And so basically kind of what it says is like,
Lots of meat, lots of whole fats, lots of whole foods, which like isn't actually that kind of nuts.
But it is like also, you know, not really how everybody eats.
Like, yes, we all aspire to eat like very healthy, et cetera, et cetera.
But like we also live like normal lives and like having a steak and a whole milk for dinner is not where everybody is.
