It's the most important thing.
It's the most important thing because we all go through trials, tribulations.
And when you're in your own head, it can just be so much bigger than it is.
And also when you do talk, you realize that other people may have been through similar things or they may not know.
They may know something's wrong with you, for example, your dad or your brother.
but not know how to help you.
And sometimes by voicing it, they could think all sorts of things, but then by voicing it, at least it gives clarity.
So I think it's really important, and plus it stops the stigma.
We all get this one life to live, so I think it's really important to be honest with your truth, even if you are confused with how you're feeling.
um so we're trained in helping we listen basically so because we don't know what the call would be it could be anything um and we don't judge so we give them that space to be able to have as much time as they need um it could be 20 minutes could be four hours it's gonna be a little tight there's no time limit no we don't put the phone down so it's um is there a
following on from the end of the conversation is there a future contact um in some cases um we don't know who you are so it's anonymous so if um in some cases we can offer what we call a follow-up call it wouldn't be the samaritan that you've spoken to um but we don't know who you are so you would have to give your your number if that was the case yeah do they ever call back

I don't necessarily know the person is called back, but a lot of the time people will say we've called before.

Since COVID, much more.
Much more people say they call quite regularly.
It's probably, it's actually easier as a Samaritan listener, and I guess if somebody was to come up to me in real life who I knew and cared about, because I can't see the person on the other end of the phone.
