But at the same meeting, Tracy Park got up and she argued back.
She did not.
The city council voted 10 to 3 to remove those no camping zones.
To be clear, not in Venice or in any part of the district that Park represents, but in some places in Hollywood and Echo Park and Silver Lake.

And it's remarkable how it's not just the tension that remains the same, but just in listening to Tracy Park, she was even using language that like harkens back to where the story began.
You know what's interesting?
I started reporting this series focusing on this case in New York City in the 1980s when street homelessness was like still this kind of somewhat novel thing that people were really like, what is happening and how do we solve it?
And there was a mayor there, Ed Koch, who thought that the city should express stronger reins of control over severely mentally ill people on the street.
And it's interesting because it's like, well, it's been 40 years and it almost feels like we're kind of coming around to an old idea.
