And at one point Rufus Stein, who is I think one of my favourite characters, he said, I believe that every one of us is a transcendent self and that this

Self is at once singular and universal.

We are all distinct and all the same.

And I I really like that.

It's a fascinating idea and is that something that you believe in yourself?

Yeah, I mean I said there I loved Rufus Rufus Stein there and that's who Florence falls in love with and Clementine falls in love with Julian originally.

So love is a really powerful thread running through the novel and I know that you were married to John Montague.

He was an amazing love poet himself and he said that love is the lyric pulse which I always I always

excuse the pun, but loved that idea.

But F Florence falls in love deeply with the charismatic Rufus Stein, um and w as I said, win in New York we follow Clementine, she's falling in love with Julian.

She marries, she divorces, she marries again.

And ultimately I think begins a much deeper journey into herself.

So there are so many different kinds of love in the book.

Um what does love mean to you in the context of these two women's stories?

Sustains and replenishes.

And then alongside romantic love, there's such a strong sense of friendship between women.

And I liked that Florence's friendship with Rosa is particularly memorable.

Rosa is fierce, she's loving, she's loyal, even though at one point she questions her loyalty, and I don't want to give away too much about that.
