The actual problem that rationalists have is they often take pedantry as more of a knockdown argument against the position being outlined than it really is.
That is, pedantry is very important for figuring out what you should believe because it helps make sure you're using words correctly.
And I think rationalists should be more pedantic here.
But the fact that one argument has pedantic problems with it is not in general a good argument for the opposite position.

Make sure you aren't using words wrong and flip-flopping on definitions, but just because something has pedantic problems doesn't mean that the opposite thing is true.
