Absolutely.

I mean, the Hittites are basically not mentioned by Homer.

Why not?

So, yeah, it's because they're completely gone by the time he's living.

We do have the Neo-Hittites that do survive, the remnants in North Syria.

and they keep going for a couple of hundred years.

It is those Hittites, the Neo-Hittites, that I think the Bible mentions, because the Bible doesn't know the actual Hittites either, but they do know the remnants that survived, the scrappy ones up in what is now North Syria.

So there's a lot of interesting parallels between Homer and the Bible in terms of oral transmission, which is eventually written down and so on.

But the lack of knowledge of Hittites in both of them is another parallel.

I'm on the side of, wow, this is great.

Yeah, everything that we find, it brings Homer to life and Homer brings that period to life.

So we have so few sources from that time period.

I mean, as I mentioned, even the linear B tablets, they're just straight economic accounting tablets.

We don't have epics and stories and poems from the late Bronze Age in Greece anymore.

We have them elsewhere, but not from Greece.

So Homer and then Hesiod, I mean, welcome to the party, gentlemen.

So yeah, for me, Homer used very carefully.
