But I think in fairness, I don't think this is a uniquely human experience.

No, I don't disagree with any of that.

I think Rick Rubin, insofar as I understand his career, and I've watched several YouTube videos with him kind of explaining this process, is one of one.

in that he is exceptional in the ability, not even to go from explorer to editor, but the ability specifically to identify what stage of exploration the person that he's working with is in, which is like, that's a teacher.

He's a fucking phenomenal teacher.

He's a mentor.

He can spend a couple hours with you, an afternoon, a day, whatever it is,

and identify where you're at and then meet you where you're at.

And I think that's probably his superpower because he knows the craft so well that he can go, okay, so you're capable of X level of exploration.
