No change, no peace, no change, no peace.
The protest chants had been going on for nearly three hours, and Sarah Cooper's head felt like someone was hammering a nail between her eyes.
She was also sure some of the students were chanting Kno W change.
No change, no peace, just to be assholes.
All right, all right, she shouted, but no one heard her over the chanting.
No change, no ow howled the crowd of protesters.
Sarah released the siren button on her bullhorn and smiled at the sudden silence.
Now that is real power, she thought.
She gazed out over the groups of students seated around the lobby of the WS McIntosh Administration Building on the campus of the Appleseed College.
Her brown eyes watered as she was buffeted by the smells of the three peas of college life.
Pizza pot patchouli.
Not to mention the ripe BO of sixty seven students who hadn't showered for two days.
She had been with them since eight o'clock the day before, Friday, and was mostly used to it, but she got blasted with a fresh burst whenever someone opened the entrance doors.
Sarah was tall and slender with light brown skin, black hair that hung to her shoulders, and shiny brown eyes.
She often wore it wore it tied in a ponytail like today, and was generally a happy, pleasant person who loved student activism and social justice.
The students, who were a mix of races, ages, genders, nationalities, and sexual orientations, were seated on the floor inside taped off areas that created a walking path for foot traffic.
