So I think the goal of a coach and an athlete is to be in command of the variables which are going to be impacting your own performance and not to allow things that should have no objective impact on your performance to affect them.
Now, is everyone able to do that?
Of course not.
You know, people have a mixture of personality and physiological traits and time in the game.
allow them to be collectively a world champion and some people are able to do that despite not having those things in order and i think a lot of the bluster the ego and the trying to get in other people's heads the people who do that it's because they know it would affect them in many cases sometimes they're just aware that it could affect others i think uh will ball for example seems pretty
He was like, it wasn't really like me to say I won already in my Instagram title, but let's give it a shot.
And I don't think that there are some people who doing that would have put too much pressure on themselves and they wouldn't have performed well.
And there's some people who would do that because they weren't confident they could win and they're trying to convince themselves of something.
So there's a lot of things that can go into it.
The last thing I'll say is that
One thing that Emil does not have going for him is that all three of his lifting styles, the wide stance squat, the wide stance, wide stance, the wide grip bench press with the maximum arch that is, you know, now borderline illegal in the current rules.
And that has a lot more things that people are trying to judge on bench.
And also...
the sumo deadlift with his anthropometrics make those the most technically demanding version of the squat bench press and deadlift that are going to be on the line to pass and to get a lift without making a technical error.
And if that's what you need to do to be totaling 920 in the 920 to 930 range is to
be at your peak strength.
And if he was to switch to a medium grip bench, a closer grip squat, I'm sorry, closer stance squat and a conventional deadlift to be totaling 890.
Well, now he's no longer a world champion or a threat in the most competitive weight class that exists in men's powerlifting.
So he has to be perfect.
