So the pathologist noted, but that didn't give him the ability to then look at certain organs and the neck structure.
And so he said he just could not determine how Nolan Wells had died.
Certain organs are not included.
And the pathologist said that in all likelihood, the neck structure was still being analyzed by the pathologists in Mississippi who are conducting the official autopsy.
And the results of that are pending, Brad.
And while the autopsy that the family commissioned did note some discoloration.
That could be from trauma, but it could also be from natural decomposition of the body.
And with autopsies associated with what may turn out to be a drowning death, they're really more useful in ruling things out.
There was no obvious gunshot wound, say, or stab wound.
We know, according to sources, the body of Nolan Wells was found face down in the water, and finding a body face down is consistent with the drowning.
And remember, the initial suspicion, Brad,
is that Wells drowned.
Now, the circumstances leading to that, what led him into the water, the autopsy can't determine that.
And the family is still agonizingly waiting to understand
how their son could have died.
Was it foul play?
Was it an accident?
The Sheriff's Department in Jackson County has talked to a number of Wells' friends, some of the people...
that were with him on the boat, at least at the outset.
The sheriff has told us that they have been cooperative.
