Yeah, that was a little bit interesting.

So we saw that there was an increased number of people retiring and quitting their jobs.

Now, under normal times, quits is sort of an interesting number.

It's kind of a proxy for how confident are you in the labor market.

If you're confident you can find another job,

You might tell your current boss you'll be leaving.

But economists told me that that might not be the signal that this is sending, especially around this time of year.

It may be a sign that either workers are concerned about their health and safety or with schools in many parts of the country not reopening for person-to-person education.

It could be that people have to quit and stay home with their kids.

So one thing that I did take as a positive was that the layoffs and furloughs figure did fall in July.

So that's consistent with...

with at least that slowing down.

And other data points to that the companies are hiring, and in some cases, they're hiring back their old workers.

So that's not necessarily going to show up in job openings.

You often don't need to post a job to recall a worker.

So while this number isn't very positive that we don't see a lot of strong demand for labor, we do need to keep in mind that at least for some companies, they have a pool of people to which to call upon without needing to post and go through the regular process.

For most low-wage workers, these benefits pay them actually more than they earned at their jobs, which allows them to continue to make that rent payment as well as buy groceries and other necessities.

Remember, when these were put into place, this was mid to late March.

And at that time, there's a lot of uncertainty around the economy.
