And we call that capitalism as if it was like the necessary part of our financial system.
That is a necessary part of capitalism.
It's better to understand it as a corruption of what capitalism could be.
And so leaving the history aside, and you ask what kind of financial system do we want to have, what kind of economic business system do we want to have in the future?

Most entrepreneurs, most founders, most employees, most customers would say, I want one that puts human flourishing at the center.
that that's what it's self consciously trying to create.
And whether it makes money or not is a secondary question.
First question is are people better off because we have it?
Now it turns out, as the research I show in the book demonstrates, that people who think this way also create tremendous economic opportunity, tremendous value creation, and tremendous competitive advantage.
So it's not like we're giving up on making money by taking this turn.
Rather, we are harnessing that desire to make money to the true mission-driven.
ethos of maximizing human flourishing.
I don't think so.
I don't actually think it is a change in the audience, although I do think it's an expansion.
So my work every day, like we joke about what is it that Eric does for a living, because I've had all these different hats and I do all this different stuff.
At the end of the day, the most common thing I do is somebody calls me for advice about starting a company.
I mean, really.
