I hate stories that begin this way.

I'm like, whoa, we really have to make it a plant.

But I think very common will be like, okay, you run a plantation, you realize that you can treat your

You can pay them better.

You can do all this stuff.

But uh oh, the plantation down the street, they don't pay their workers well, they pay them poorly.

They exploit them, they use toxic chemicals, but their prices are cheaper, so everyone chooses them.

So you go out of business.

So your high-minded ideals ultimately lose in the marketplace.

That's what supply and demand is as econ 101.

And it's such an interesting story, leaving the colonial part of its side, which I find very, very offensive.

It's also smuggling into the story empirically testable claims and treating them as fact.
