And so I face resistance or lack of motivation. matched

It's usually much easier for me just to say, just go put on the bike shoes and clip into the bike. matched

than it is to try and give myself a pep talk sitting on the couch, right? matched

Just putting on the bike shoes, just making the thing that feels big and hard into something tiny just tends to work more effectively for me. matched

That said, sometimes I do need to go into motivation, right? matched

I do need to, as I'm sitting there on the couch, I do need to go like, well, why does that even matter? matched

Oh yeah, because you know if you exercise, you're going to have more energy all the rest of the day. matched

You're going to feel better about yourself, blah, blah. matched

Okay, now I'm sort of working on my motivation. matched

And sometimes that's the play. matched

And so part of what I'm doing in the book is laying out different tools that can be used at different times based on what you need. matched

Yes, I do suffer from, I don't know even what to call it anymore. matched

For years and years, I would call it depression. matched

And I am on antidepressant medications, so I guess you would say depression in some form, way, shape, or form. matched

In the beginning, that depression, I think, was evident. matched

I think it was a driver of the entire addiction process. matched

So yeah, all of a sudden, I don't have the thing that made me feel better, but what I started to have was real meaning. matched

What I mean, to use the word again, by that, is that I wasn't having the feeling, feeling good all the time, but I had a life that felt meaningful all of a sudden. matched

I was on the right path. matched
