Um, but it is the practice and the art really of mending broken pottery with gold.
And I found that to be like a really powerful metaphor for grief.
I think, you know, one of the, one of the big problems that we as humans have is we're conditioned to kind of keep our feelings to ourselves.
Um,
And that can just be so destructive because then like those feelings need somewhere to go.
And, and if you don't have a channel for them, then they just come out in all kinds of crazy, you know, potentially destructive, hurtful ways, either to yourself or to other people.
And so what I found when I was going through,
the early grief after losing my parents, um, was that I needed to be able to talk about it.
And I think the art of Kintsugi is about highlighting the break in the life of the object.
Right.
And so by healing it, by shining a light on it, by literally using precious metal to mend it, you make the break.
Well, the break makes the object more beautiful than it was before.
And so I have a series of like small paintings that I did and they're called Healing Hearts and they're almost all of them entitled Healing
more beautiful than before number one, more beautiful than before number six, because there was just something that was so profound about that metaphor.
And it definitely gave me something to focus on.
And I always thought I was a silver girl before, but now there's gold in almost every single thing that I paint, whether it's, um,
like a jagged line kind of mending something or, you know, but there's gold in almost everything that I do now because I just want to remember.
Yes.
So, you know, in the opera world there, and it's like this in the visual art world, it's like this everywhere.
But I think in the arts, it's more easy to see because you are literally your own instrument and you are putting yourself out there.
