So I'm more likely to worry about the stuff than worry about the command because the command is something you can work on.
But if you just don't have the stuff, that's where you're going to run into problems.
For me, he had that stuff today, and I'm actually relatively encouraged by this outing in that sense.
Today was not his most impressive outing, and with a few different bounces, it could have actually been quite ugly.
But the Blue Jays got the win today.
So what happened today doesn't really matter as much.
What matters is how is he going to be going forward, and there are some encouraging signs.
And that slider...
is such a weird pitch.
Like when you have a slider, you expect it to really break to the glove side.
And if anything, the splitter is fading the other way.
The fastball fades the other way a little bit.
So you'd think the slider would be that contrast and his slider actually kind of fades arm side as well.
which you could argue isn't ideal.
If you were creating a pitcher from scratch, you'd say, I want a pitch that breaks this way.
I want a pitch that breaks the other way.
I want the hitter to have to think about both of those things.
And that's not what Yosavich has.
And as he works on his repertoire, gets deeper into his career, I wouldn't be surprised if eventually he adds something, maybe a cutter or something like that, that goes the other way.
