We adopted him.

But my $1,000 wiggle room category was just enough for a shelter adoption fee and a seating fund to get a new dog started.
As part of the adoption application, they asked how much I was planning to pay for dog care.
And I wrote that I'd been budgeting with a tool called YNAB, so I was confident I could find the money needed.
YNAB helped me in the application process and also to be a little spontaneous, but not regretfully, expensively spontaneous.
