My win comes from Amanda.

I started using YNAB for our family's finances about seven years ago.

For a long time, I only used it to track expenses.

But a few years ago, I started listening to the Budget Nerds podcast, and you guys convinced me that getting a month ahead was a worthy goal.

I was making progress in fits and starts, but last Christmas, my parents gave us an unexpected large cash gift, and I used a good piece of it to officially get a month ahead.

Ben is right.

It's almost a spiritual experience.

I have loved the peace of mind it's provided.

Fast forward to October of this year, my husband, who brings in the lion's share of our income, is a federal employee.

And we are now four and a half weeks into a government shutdown and no paycheck.

But because September was a three-check month and because we were a month ahead, we are fully funded for the rest of November and into sometime in December.

Even then, if the shutdown continues, all I will need to do is shift money around from other categories to continue to pay our bills.

Lord willing, the shutdown will end long before we run out of money, but I think we'd be fine until March or April, if need be.

I'm so thankful for YNAB and grateful for the budget nurse for helping me learn how to make it work more effectively.

Another situation here, Ben, there's a storm and not having to deal with that financial worry can just kind of focus on the task at hand.

Getting through this storm makes all the difference in the world.

Basically anything that you proactively set money aside for, like you don't love departing with that money, but like there's some sort of joy in like, hey, I prepared for this.

I can easily make this payment right now.

I don't know.
