I can tell you right now, though, and we saw it towards the end of the campaign, Mamdani is fully aware of the dilemma that was just described.

You know, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, who has more political savvy than all of us on this broadcast put together, said when she endorsed Zoran Mamdani, it has to be partly ideological if you want to be leftist, but you also have to have the solid working class black base of the Democratic Party if you want to get anywhere.
It's definitely true in New York, and it's basically true nationally as well.
So Mamdani has already started taking steps in that direction.
He was introduced when he gave his victory speech last night.

And he really alluded to it in his victory speech last night, which is the many tribes of New York City are now going to be the responsibility of the next mayor.
He wants to be that mayor.
And so he's going to have to make peace with all of those tribes.
