For Jay, the question wasn't so much why should we have a data center here?
It was why shouldn't we?
This moment, the rapid-fire building of the infrastructure for AI, is one of the largest capital expenditures in human history.
In many places, that means destroying farmland, polluting, and putting immense pressure on the grid, sometimes achieved through secrecy, pressure, and manipulation.
Other times, towns offer incentives.
