I've met a bunch of older actors who've lived really interesting lives that I've learned.
It's like I once had dinner with Vanessa Redgrave, this old English actress.
She spent her life doing Shakespeare and Chekhov and Beckett and Tennessee Williams.
She spent her life with some of the greatest minds of the last 50 years.
And she carries that with her.
She's powerfully intelligent, powerfully humble woman.
Being next to somebody you really admire, a master craftsman, doesn't matter what the craft is, when you take it to a high level, it has a lot to teach you.
So anyway, that was a multi-part question.
The other thing that part of your question is, how did I stay balanced?
And a lot of it had to do with my father, who doesn't care about celebrity, doesn't particularly think it's very interesting, not in a judgmental way.
He really cares about integrity.
And whether you're a good person and whether you tell the truth.
And it's not interesting to him how much money you make.
That's not where his value system is placed on whether he's naturally suspicious of people who want too much attention, naturally suspicious of that in me, which was good for me.
That's a good suspicion.
It's a healthy suspicion.
He was very realistic about the chances I had of making a profession out of this.
