Zach, it's the middle of the year here at Empirics, which means we just did something that could be seen as dumb.
We just spent a lot of money to take the entire team offline for almost a full week to a mid-year all-hands review.
Oh, yeah.
How do you think it went?
December usually closes the year, and it kicks off the new year with obviously strategic intent, health, financials, team goals, operations, really try and recap everything in about two and a half or three days.
Mix in some Chick-fil-A and a little bit of fun so that people don't get too bored.
But considerable investment, right?
Especially now that we got, what is it, 14 full-time people?
I don't know how to count the co-op for marketing, 14 full-time people.
But opportunity cost, actual dollars, time cost, massive investment.
Have you ever been with a firm before that really invests in those?
Was that a correlation causation thing?
I think that's where most of the value lies.
And we'll talk about some of the downsides and some of the lessons learned.
But, you know, whenever I talk to people in communities like the Ask a Chief of Staff community or just my startup friends, we talk about doing these offsites and their eyes always get like Bugs Bunny big.
And they're like, you shut down your advisory firm and you go offline for a couple of days.
And I'm like, well, first of all, I fully understand that our managers have their laptops and phones still.
Let's be real.
But second, hell yes.
It's absolutely vital just because of what you said.
