The jobs topic is always interesting because honestly, pound for pound, or I'll say megawatt for megawatt, data centers don't create a lot of permanent long-term jobs.
No, 100%.
There is, though, the massive influx of short-term jobs.
Short-term here is called 18 to 30 months, a typical construction cycle, where you might only need two people per megawatt for long-term staffing, but you had 2,000 or 3,000 skilled tradespeople making premium wages on site for 18 to 30 months.
Correct.
It's not a long-term job, but that's a hell of a short-term job.

One of the biggest misconceptions that frustrates me is when people talk about a data center came in, so my power rates went up.

I think it's important, though, to talk about why that happens because people don't think about the dollars and cents of power plants and power utilities a lot.
But it happens for a couple of reasons.
And part of this is due to community pressure, which is a great thing.
We talked last time about how important it is as a citizen to be involved with your local city council, get your city council to negotiate fair terms.
That should happen.
