One of the topics that I think goes way overhead of a lot of people in the space is the inference scaling and the unit economics that go with that.
Right now, there's such a big push on infrastructure.
And I think what's missed is it's kind of the equivalent of going out and building the entire US highway system or fiber system or anything, you know, just compressed into three or four or five years.
And that's a breathtaking amount of money, right?
And the speed of it is breathtaking and all those things.
But if you compress the US highway system into a five year span, you'd say the same thing.
Correct.
And while there is going to be ever increasing actual training need within data centers, the shift to inference, I think, is going to change that because that can be a lot less expensive
you don't have to be in tier one markets you don't have to have the same uptime requirements you can repurpose old facilities you can start to get to those economies of scale that it's just weird to sit here and say you need a trillion dollars to start but again i can probably pull up the math while we talk but if you did the whole highway system in five years all the rights away everything all the technology
and then you inflation adjusted at 2025, I imagine we're within, I'd say, at least a magnitude on the level of spend.
It also doesn't all have to be done at once.
Correct.
Once you have infrastructure or a portfolio in place, you can have basically depreciation schedules.
You can move compute load around from, oh, I need the best and brightest possible thing, so it goes in my recently retrofitted data center, versus this is a thing more tolerant of latency or error.
It can go in an aging asset.
They can also start to make those decisions, which I think is really interesting.
I did pull up those costs.
This is all inflation adjusted.
But the interstate system itself in modern dollars is $700 billion.
The full National Highway Network original build was $2 to $3 trillion.
