Well, after being uh something of an activist, I returned to philosophy after I had Sesha.

first I thought I would study medicine and do research or psychiatry, but I had to take a lot of undergraduate courses, a lot in science, 'cause I hadn't done this in

as a undergrad in order to apply for medical school

And elementary biology just wasn't sufficiently engaging to take my mind off.

very difficult those who were receiving that session and uh a poor prognosis.

And so I went to graduate school in philosophy.

basically to take my mind off obsession's problems.

I was really interested, I from college I've been interested in in metaphysics, uh Spinoza.

Uh but philosophy of language and philosophy of science, they were the ones that raised the questions in a way that really interested me and I found appealing.

And uh I as I didn't have a good background in science, I really s settled on fluffs with language.

I had worked as an undergraduate, taking a number of courses in anthropology.

I was very interested in language, the power of language, and the way it worked in those societies and magic spells and in our own society as symbols.

And I I really wondered how symbols could become so powerful.

I don't think I'd ever really cracked that, but uh what I did settle on was uh exploring the question of metaphor.

And that was very engaging.

I loved doing philosophy of language.

I loved doing that.

But then I went to a conference.

That had caught my eye, intrigued me because it was on philosophy and mental retardation, which was the term art of the day.

And it was quite shocking to me, uh, to have all these philosophers there gathered talking about
