and beyond and that is actually physiologically really really hard for us to do but we live with it all day so budgeting is fine but it doesn't talk about what is my money doing today what is my money doing tomorrow and what is my money doing beyond and i think what humans can't do and this is somebody that also james clear talks about is the delayed return is that humans can't concept that idea but understanding that time is a continuum and money sits on that continuum
One of the things that a lot of human beings do and the studies show that we want things to be seen here and now.
So a lot of people, particularly with a saver personality or something along those lines that are very conservative, they like to look at their money.
They actually like to physically see it on their bank account or in physical hold.
And money has gone from being a value changer to actually a physical thing.
It's a physical asset in their eyes.
And that is okay, but it does also mean that you need to be fully aware of that, that you can't necessarily change the physical currency into other assets.
And so getting back to your point about budgeting and where planners sit, it's a really good thing.
But it's very hard to help with a budget to go, what does actually 10 years look like from now?
What does 20 years look like from now?
Where does my money sit on that?
How do I invest my money for that?
Because you don't need all of your money today.
Even if the world was to collapse, you'd still be fine.
if you've got enough money sitting ready to go because your tomorrow money as i call it which is the stuff that's probably about three to five years away should be waiting for you and your beyond money should also be there which is you know 10 years out now the beauty in australia we have superannuation not everywhere in the world has something like that um there are flaws with super i know that but it is an advantage that the beyond in this country is created for you it's forced upon you
And it gives you that idea of time continuum.
It's to actually understand that your money over time is doing what it's doing.
And that brings in all sorts of things like compounding interest and blah, blah, blah.
