Well, I mean, I'm going to assume that it was well-intentioned.

The intent there was to raise awareness of domestic abuse and the links between footballing tournaments and indeed big sport tournaments and the increase in domestic abuse that often accompanies them.

However, the real issue was around accountability and blame, because the way that that commentary was framed was it's whether or not England win that is the cause of the domestic abuse.

No, the reality here is the cause of the domestic abuse is the perpetrator.

And we should never...

say anything that takes accountability and blame away from the perpetrator.

Football doesn't cause domestic abuse.

Alcohol doesn't cause domestic abuse.

These are triggering factors where you have somebody already engaged in that behaviour or a perpetrator is already engaged in that behaviour.

So it is not the fault of the England football team whether somebody decides to abuse their

partner or escalates that abuse it is the it's a perpetrator's responsibility the real issue there was was the lack of accountability where it belongs and what the message of that sense is well you know I have a reason for abusing my partner or being violent towards my partner because England lost what we're trying to highlight here is that whether or not England win or lose is

domestic abuse spikes.

So people need to be vigilant.

Survivors need to be conscious and cautious.

We need, as a society, to enable help to be there for those women and children who are going to be vulnerable to this.

And we know that this kind of abuse happens within an hour after the final whistle.

That's why our campaign is called The Other Kickoff, timed at about an hour after the final whistle blows on the match.

Well, it's a varied spectrum of factors.

So firstly, heightened emotion, alcohol consumption, the fact that people are getting very excitable, and then the heightened emotions of extreme frustration or extreme victory.

So that sort of heady mix of emotions come together to exacerbate
