abuse oftentimes where abuse already exists if a person isn't a perpetrator and you know the vast majority of people are not perpetrators but where a person is not a perpetrator that mix will have no bearing on how they treat their families but where they are a perpetrator
it does tend to augment.
And we can see that through the stats.
So we know that it's not really about winning or losing.
And that was another thing about the politicians' comments, you know, England, please win.
Actually, the abuse happens whether or not you win or lose.
So it's just also factually wrong, as well as putting accountability in the wrong place.
Well, I think what those comments really illustrated was a lack of awareness of the causes and consequences of domestic abuse.
The need for more awareness on the kind of permissive environment that that kind of comment will create.
as if it's not the fault of the perpetrator, but it's the fault of the England team as to whether or not England win or lose, and a lack of accountability for the perpetrator.
So we need to ensure that whichever political party is in power, that they are holding perpetrators of abuse, domestic abuse, to account.
Now,
Whether or not that was the intent, that did not come through in those comments.
And then if you extend that to reform policy, we don't know what reform policy really is on violence against women and girls.
They haven't said that these are our aims on this issue.
This is what we want to see done on this issue.
What we are concerned about...
is where you have a party that may be creating a permissive environment, you know, through ignorance or lack of knowledge or by intent, you know, we don't know.
I would hope it's the former, absolutely.
Where you have that coupled with the kinds of things we're seeing with their candidates in Makerfield, for example, somebody who has made very clear misogynistic comments, which are not properly addressed by the leader of reform, you know, that sort of throwaway comment when challenged on it that Nigel Farage made, you know, no, it didn't help.
