And podcast-host
In some of your work you've talked about how if we kind of broaden out the lens in terms of the wider landscape, Olmstones do appear in some situations to be close to what would have been older boundaries and the idea that they may be almost a wider kin group claiming ownership over an area or they're a yeah, I suppose a a a signposting collective ownership rather than a narrow individual in a in a over a lifetime. podcast-host
And then I suppose another use or another possible use is the fact that they've been found in souterrains, which are, you know, tunnels essentially stone lined tunnels you often find associated with ring forts or settlements. podcast-host
But podcast-host
What? podcast-host
kind of interests me about that is that these are clearly not public spaces. podcast-host
They're not necessarily going to be visible to people in a neighboring podcast-host
kingdom or to a also even to the public who might visit, like it d they're they're very hidden away. podcast-host
Do we have any sense of what they're being used for in those contexts? 'Cause it must be quite different than, you know, a claim over a wider tract of territory. podcast-host
Just to clarify though, it that they're being reused in souterrains uh rather than the inscription being put on the stone. podcast-host
in the souterrain originally. podcast-host
And then I suppose staying on the theme of meaning. podcast-host
very kind of glabe or uh summary statements you might read online tend to associate Ohm with pre-Christian traditions and that, you know, like they're they're swept away essentially by the arrival of Christianity. podcast-host
But, you know, like many things, when you delve into the actual history of it, it's a lot more complicated than that. podcast-host
And even Ohm stones tend to be associated with early Christian monastic sites. podcast-host
Could you tease that out that idea that it's you know podcast-host
Positioning it within one tradition is probably too cross. podcast-host
So far we've talked about like a podcast-host
the the script itself and maybe some of the reflections it might give us of the society that podcast-host
They were carved in. podcast-host
