I think you want to see flaws, relationships, pressure, ego, history, all of that stuff.

Like otherwise you can't emotionally invest in someone.

So that's it.

I want to like and it can be love them or hate them, you know, but like I need to care about them one way or the other.

And then almost as though the sport itself becomes secondary.

although the sport or accomplishment or failure in that sport becomes the vehicle by which we kind of watch the human story unfold so you know obviously the best documentaries they make the consequences feel like absolutely laid them out on the table so what they're trying to win what they're trying to prove what they stand to lose so and it's not just like a match or a game or a league it's

It's all about like identity and livelihood, like a sense of legacy, belonging and like the best ones they folded in authentically.

So it's not, you know, the kind of like like the sport documentary version of a reality TV show where it's like, oh, I'm singing this song because I'm.

My aunt who helped raise me, she got sick when I was very young and tears.

And that formula just feels now very formulaic.

So it's about folding that connection to the humanness of somebody and folding that in without making it so overt or obvious or cynical.

And then you want ultimately like a great sports documentary has a story that builds.

So it's not just like a set of highlights.

So like you want a good narrative arc.
