And then on Monday, only four
Days ago, the only post office in the area also stopped operating without any prior notice.
So I spoke to residents and not only were they shocked by the most recent closure, but several of them told me that the gradual disappearance of these services feels as if they're slowly losing a part of their community.

Um now Doctor Fiona Grant now runs Step Med at the Beacon in Stallorgan, but her practice was formerly known as Stepside Medical and used to be literally in the heart of the village.
I asked her about the move and what she thinks that the loss of a local GP means for the community and for the patients who relied on having that care so nearby.

In Wexford 10, residents and business owners alike told me that a number of local shops and services had been forced to close in recent times due to loads of different reasons.
And during my short walk through the Main Street, I passed multiple vacant units.
Many of the people I met there actually told me that because of this, they've they've noticed quite a transformation in their town.
You were just saying there that you could have noticed quite a change in the main street here in Wexford.

Met with Bobby O'Neill, the owner of O'Neill's Main Street gift store, who has worked in retail in the town since he was 14 years old.
And he told me about some of the difficulties that small businesses in the area are currently facing.
There are government initiatives which have been put in place to tackle the issues that were mentioned, the vacancies, dereliction, and these schemes ultimately aim to revitalize towns across the country so that they're vibrant places to live and visit again.
there's a lack of footfall in the areas as well, but he says regeneration schemes have helped some of these towns bend back.
