I can't say that there was a time when I really got to celebrate the thing.

I was still in Europe.

I was with the team management when they got this call from the UCI, which is like the NFL of cycling.

He came to my room, and as soon as he told me, I mean, I knew that life was never going to be the same.

And I was kind of in shock.

I didn't really know what to do.

As much as I had been on the team with Lance where he was a big star, I never had to actually manage the PR side of things.

I didn't have a team around me of people that could advise me.

If I had another season of having won the tour, I would have had all of that.

But I just didn't have anybody that could advise me on what to do.

I don't know if anybody would have known what to do.

We got this positive test.

Yeah, I didn't want to deny it.

I didn't really want to admit it either.

In the back of my mind, I knew that if you admit to it and spill the beans, then you don't come back.

Like, you're never going to race again.

In hindsight, I guess I probably should have just told the truth right up front.
