I don't know what would have happened.

I might have been arrested.

I was in France.

It's actually a crime there.

But if I tell the truth, it takes out a bunch of people who are my friends that I've just spent the last 10 years of my life with.

And then I'm going to put them in the same situation I'm in.

So I just did the easy thing, which was just deny it.

But I wasn't very good at it.

Why did you take that step?

I'm faced with this situation where I do want to race my bike again.

I don't know why.

I didn't just accept that this was over.

Like, if I could take a step back and look at it from a more clear frame of mind, I would have realized that they're never going to let me race my bike again.

Like, this was too big of a scandal.

But you hadn't quite comprehended that yet.

This is going to sound stupid and out of context, but it just felt unfair.

Like, I'm one of everyone else doing what we do.

Within the game we were playing, I was not breaking the rules.

So I decided that, okay, I have to fight this thing and I have to at least tell a story that is believable so that I can try to get back and race.

I sound like an idiot.
