And their suffering and the trauma and the abandonment and the abuse.

And this homie, you know, a grown man, it was just sobbing.

And he really was just wailing.

Somehow it had unleashed our conversation.

He just started to talk about basically what he had been denied throughout his whole life.

And then I let him cry.

And then he finally says, has God abandoned me?

And then he cries some more.

And then he looks at me and he goes, have you?

And I realized in that instant that the only way he'll know that this is not on God's mind is to know that it's not on mine either.

And that's kind of how we communicate.

That's how, you know, people will know, you know, if you...

know the God of love and know the tenderness and the affectionate heart, and then you can choose to be that in the world with people for whom hope and love and tenderness is exceedingly foreign, if you can be that for people, then that's compelling.

It's not about

explaining or teaching or let me tell you who Jesus is.

So you want to see Jesus and you want to be Jesus.

And the Christ in you recognizes the Christ in him.

And that's how you proceed, because then it's all heart work.

And it comes from the deepest place.

And it's how people will come to know the truth of the God who loves without measure and without regret.
