So I'm curious if people who come in hating someone from a rival gang member or another ethnic group or racial group, is it also about getting to know them?
Well, let me ask you advice.
I've never asked advice on this show before, but I was at the Synod of Bishops in 2023 and 2024, and
A lot of people knew that I worked with LGBTQ Catholics, and boy, I got some real pushback and some real homophobia.
And some of it came from bishops who said that it's disgusting, it's awful.
And I'll confess something to you, Greg.
I felt that if I only was able to sort of share stories with them, you know, let me share a story of these two men who took care of each other, these two women.
that somehow it would change them.
Well, I was sorely mistaken.
They just said, that's very nice, but it's still awful.
I'm curious, in those situations, when you meet someone who is just dead set against listening and dead set against any sort of conversion, where do you go from there?
Well, amen to that.
You know, I was thinking as you were talking,
You deal with so many different kinds of responses and reactions in the world.
You deal with a lot of suffering.
You deal with a lot of despair.
But I would imagine you also deal with a lot of adulation and praise and things like that.
I'm wondering what kind of spiritual practices you have to keep you grounded in all of that, with all these things kind of coming at you.
Well, I like that idea of being free.
It's very Ignatian, you know, not being attached to these things and letting these things go.
