But I also wanted to make certain that I knew, that they knew, that I needed to be consistent with my life.
That they needed to see this consistently throughout my time in formation to know that I was truly the man that I was now convicted to be through Jesus Christ.
Yeah, vanity.
Vanity is... Before I understood... My intention for creating my companies, all were beauty-related, was to create... little mini-celebrities.
That was my whole idea.
If I could give them, if I could make them look and feel like they were...
more worthy of what they thought that they were, that they would buy into the brands that I would create.
So what I was doing was I was inviting them to be prideful, to idolize themselves and to idolize celebrities and to idolize the companies that they're buying, the brands that they were buying and making gods of other things outside of God himself.
So when I was at seminary my first year, I remember going to the concert that we had.
It was a fundraising concert where all the seminarians would sing at Mount Angel.
And I remember one of the seminarians came up to me in the lobby area before we went on stage.
And I can't sing.
And he randomly came up to me and he said, you know, I wanted to tell you that I always stayed away from skincare and stuff like that because it just brought vanity to my life.
And I just wanted to let you know that.
