I literally packed a bag, not knowing anyone.
Like I didn't have a group of friends who had already gone there.
One of my school friends I'd known for a while had moved back there a few years earlier.
So I knew of one person who lived in Bath and in the UK.
And I went, you know, no credit card because, of course, that wasn't a thing.
Certainly no cell phones and no internet.
And now it's really interesting.
As my children hit 17, I looked at them and thought –
Hell no.
Not a chance.
And that's with, you know, with cell phones and with the internet and having full visibility and video calls.
I mean, you know, I would call back at Christmas and birthdays and it would be a very short call because, you know, sitting there with tokens or jetons or cash, depending on which country I was in at the time.
And when I look back and go, why did I do that?
It was that beginning of my curiosity really coming to play and...
My mother always said that I was the shyest young girl.
She said I hid behind the folds of her skirt growing up.
She said, you were literally, if anyone walked into the room, I was the one that was hiding.
If people would knock on the door, I would run and hide.
And then...
I hit a sort of maybe puberty, maybe it was something else, but suddenly I was like eyes wide open and I was just like, give me more.
