And he goes, if they really knew the thing that's making us money.
And to go and even start making a game back then, like just a computer game, you had to have a computer and a license for PlayStation, which cost a million dollars.
So as a startup, you had to have a million dollars even to get going, which is why you'd end up doing Barbie games.
And so that period, if you didn't live here in the tech industry, you can't imagine that we just saw this, almost this whole industry just evolve, this creative sector and things.
And it grew and grew and grew and eventually sort of went to nothing.
in a way, because all the other countries in the world do the same.
And, of course, now AI has come in and completely annihilated that.
And the board I'm on in the University of Silicon Valley is my view into the future of that industry because all of my board colleagues are from the biggest creative sectors in the world.
You know, it's the co-founder of DreamWorks and from Google and people are doing all these amazing things.
And they're all, you know, in there, well, not all of them, but they're sort of all between 50 and 80.
And they talk about AI with as much passion as I do.
And they are so all over it and they can see it.
But what you see in Silicon Valley right now would literally blow the minds of anybody in the film industry here or the games industry because it's just miles ahead in what you can do.
Just a different world.
Yeah, and I think the more – because originally, this is how funny it was, we had e-commerce and new media because I didn't know what to – what do you call all the other media, the sort of CD-ROM multimedia websites?
So new media was everything we didn't know what to call it, so it was just new media.
And what happened was the sort of the birds of a feather concept of – anybody who worked in that space from computer graphics and software engineering at the universities and game –
We all kind of came together.
We kind of found each other.
And I was on the New Zealand Game Developers Board.
