It was just a huge, big community.

So, no, I really enjoyed growing up there.

Yep.

So that side, but he was in the Navy.

So my mother, Niuean, born in Niue, her mother, Niuean, her father, half Samoan, actually.

So that's where the Samoan part came.

But...

We weren't really brought up in that.

It was like a lot of people coming over in those days.

Her family came over from Niue just to better themselves and get jobs and things like that.

And she met my father and had eight kids.

Eight?

Basically in a row.

Wow.

My two older sisters were born in the same year.

Wow.

One in January, one in December.

Wow.

So, yeah, eight kids, 10 of us lived in Otara first.
