Like think of link think about a lot of the teams that you know really well in the NHL.
They have a brand, they have an identity.
You know when the Florida Panthers come to town exactly what they're gonna play like, what they look like, how they operate.
Same with the Ottawa Senators.
Like they they're gonna be a stingy defensive team.
We don't know what Toronto's brand of hockey, we don't know what their identity is this year.
This is a whole new thing.
It's a refresh.
So when they make as many moves as they made, on the ice and off the ice, scouting department, like all these different things.
The expectation is to be good right away and give yourself a chance to win.
The reality is we don't know how quickly that's all gonna come together and we don't know what it's supposed to look like because they haven't established that yet.
Like you've seen Toronto in the past and different regimes, different players go from highly skilled, really fast, gonna race you up and down the ice and gonna outscore you out of the building.
Go from that to hey, we need to lock it down a little bit, we gotta dumb it down a little bit, we gotta play playockey.
And now to the point where there's been so many personnel changes that they're gonna play a style of hockey, we just don't know what it is and how it's gonna hold up.
But I'll tell you what, like if you want to look at it optimistically
They could surprise a lot of teams.
And maybe it's not a surprise because teams are gonna look at Toronto and say there's a lot of quality players there, but if everything goes the way it's supposed to go, they're gonna be a good team.
They should be a playoff team, but it didn't go that way last year, and that's a cautionary tale that sometimes on paper it doesn't work out that way when you play the games.
