No, they've often been in my thoughts since.
And yeah, that's just, I suppose, the occupational hazards of doing the job that I do is that if you are an empathetic person, and I'd like to think that I am, you do sometimes feel you get emotionally involved in these cases, which is a dangerous trait when you have to be so impartial covering a case.
And I'd like to think I am when a trial is live.
But once those restrictions, those shackles are off after the event, then that opens up a conversation where you can go on air and you can talk about your own thoughts and opinions.
Yeah, yeah.
Like you can't lose sight of yourself and your own values.
And it would be easy to do that doing the job that I do.
And I'm sure it's the same for members of Angarda Síochána who are at the coalface.
I'm just sitting there listening to the evidence.
I often think about the paramedics and the Gardaí who arrive on these scenes and how difficult that must be for them.
And then for them to get up and be professional and they are professional and to get up and give evidence.
That evidence before a jury and to be cross-examined on it as well, to have their evidence tested by defence barristers is not an easy thing to do.
At the end of the day, all I do, not to belittle what I do, but I'm sitting there listening to what's being said in court and then I'm using that raw material to build news reportage and to bring that to people who would like to be there who maybe couldn't be there.
And there's obviously a huge public interest in doing that.
But years ago, colleagues of mine in the news desk used to refer to me as old black heart because they felt that I could go down and I could cover these heroin cases seemingly unaffected.
When that, for those out there who know me personally, would know that that's simply not the case.
I'm a very empathetic person.
These cases sometimes go deep.
I also have kids, you know, two lovely kids at home.
