Consistency does not mean never getting interrupted.
Consistency means becoming someone who knows how to come back.
Think of walking like steering a car.
You make small corrections constantly.
You do not pull over and abandon the car because you drifted slightly within the lane.
You correct.
You continue.
So the first R is reframe.
This is not failure.
This is a restart opportunity.
The second step is reduce.
When people restart, they usually try to make up for lost time.
They think, I haven't walked in two weeks, so I need to do 45 minutes today.
That sounds committed, but it often creates the next failure.
The walk feels too demanding before it begins.
You negotiate with yourself and you postpone it until later.
Later becomes tomorrow, tomorrow becomes next Monday, or you complete the long walk, feel sore and exhausted, and unconsciously teach your brain that restarting is unpleasant.
Your first walk back should not test your fitness.
It should reduce your resistance.
That is why your restart is only five minutes, not five miles, not 5,000 steps.
