michigan-born kid who grew up idolizing the red wings and it's gone to such a dark place that he feels the need to ask out and so i think there's a lot to unpack i think steve eiserman's role in it and the culture that has eroded there to the point where your captain is at this spot and and i say that
full well knowing the leadership that Steve Eisenman brought as a player, but he certainly rules with an iron fist as a general manager.
And I just, I noticed, and I've spent a lot of time around Dylan Larkin these past couple of years, particularly at four nations face off and also in Milan at the Olympics.
He's got this joie de vivre.
He's got this like passion that oozes to play.
I know he's bringing that in Detroit and if he's beaten down enough that he needs to ask out, like that raises serious questions for me about where they're going.
And I know that you could sit here and make the argument that, Hey, Steve Iserman is going to bite his time.
He's gonna like get exactly what he needs.
And this is such an important moment for the Red Wings as a franchise.
And I agree.
He's also been down this road before.
There was a very public trade request from Jonathan drew an, and he did pretty well on that deal getting surrogate.
Uh, there have been other trade requests that have popped up over the course of his tenure that he's navigated.
So it's different in stature.
It's different in attention, especially at a time when finding true difference makers, let alone centers is incredibly difficult.
But it's not as if this is his first rodeo either.
So whether it's these three teams or whether or not he's able to press them and get them to somewhere else that might have a bit more assets, I'd imagine at some point no one's really going to want to try and put the toothpaste back in the tube in September.
skating out onto the ice at Little Caesars Arena, it makes me uncomfortable just thinking about what that scene would be like.
I mean, I think it has the capability to be that deal that reshapes the future, right?
I don't think the Red Wings are going into this thinking...
