like the Canucks were with Quinn Hughes, where you get four first-round equivalents back and you redo this.
My thought process would be that, particularly with some of the teams that are in the mix, you're grabbing NHL-ready talent and you're changing your mixture makeup of your team to see if that will give you a different look and feel.
But I'm with you as someone...
Dylan Larkin, who saw the other end of this, like caught the last year of that incredible Detroit playoff run 25 years and played at the Joe and has been through and seen it all.
Like he's lived everything, including a crushing collapse, a historic collapse for this Red Wing team this year.
I know that players are the ones ultimately responsible for what happens on the ice, but I can't help but look at the situation and just think about, especially for a guy who was asking for more help and support last year, that this year, okay, they don't get Quinn Hughes, they go out late and add Justin Falk and just kind of felt like Steve Eiserman putting a Band-Aid on it, that
He's been failed in, in proper support around him that there's only so much that he can do, particularly shoulder shouldering.
So many of the heavy matchups, you shut down Dylan Larkin and his line, and you've got a great chance to win that.
I can't help, but look at anyone except for the general manager.
Who's been responsible for this going on so long.
You watch another team in their division in Montreal, like they were in the cup final in 2021.
And now they're back in the East final.
And meanwhile, the Red Wings, they started their rebuild in 2018.
And they're still not even in the playoffs yet.
So at some point, the chair has to swivel around or the camera has to swivel around and point at the general manager and ask the hard question here of,
okay, how has it gotten this bad that now you're going to be trading away one of your top players and hoping, wishing, praying that you have enough leverage to make this team better on the other end of it?
Well, I don't know why they wouldn't be willing to do it, right?
Like, if you could add a player of that magnitude, of course.
But here's the thing.
I don't think that's the best asset that's in that mix.
